Once upon a time… the Earth

A major highlight of my summer-long stay in Quebec city, Canada would be my visit to Parc Bois-de-Coulonge, – the Mosaicultures Quebec 2022 exhibition venue. A surreal (almost unreal) garden in Quebec city, on the banks of Saint-Lawrence River.

The exhibition tagged “Il etait une fois… la Terre (Once upon a time… the Earth) is a unique one because this is the first time it is being hosted in Quebec. Every year, the exhibition is taken to different cities around the globe. This year’s happens to be in Quebec, Canada. Talking about being in the right place at the right time.

The exhibition spaning June 24 to October 10 treats the visitors to a wide variety of flower-made animals, and all things nature built with flowers. Besides the visual pleasure, a sombering hymn to the Earth rents the air. It’s amazing how realistic these features are.

The exhibition ground comprises:

– the PERGOLA which represents the Lieutenant Governor’s residence. One can’t miss the visually stimulating and colorful flowers and flower-made larger than life butterflies.

The Pergola right behind

– The polar and marine world. This includes polar bears, whales, waves made with flowers, walruses, penguins, icebergs and so on.

– The Farm: Here we see the portrait of the historic Elzeard Bouffier, the Man who planted trees. Visitors are treated with flower-sculptures of horses, rabbits, sheep, goats… Others are a labourer, beekeeper, raccons, bees…

And of course, the beautiful woman’s face with a fountain of water flowing from her hands depicting mother nature and its blessing.
